FOUNDATION OF NRITYA KALA NIKETAN:

With an aim to provide the facility of learning dance to the girls staying in her nearby locality she formed an institution named Nritya Kala Niketan in the year 1982 with merely a batch of 6 students in Girgaon and now in 2021 after 38 years the institute has spread its activities over various suburbs like Bhyandar, Borivali, Malad, Goregaon, Thane and 5 branches in Girgaon and nearby areas with about 1500 students and 126 Arangetrams.

ACTIVITIES OF INSTITUTION:

The students of the institution have performed under the direction of Guru Archana Palekar in Govt approved programs conducted by Dev Vani Mandiram to promote Sanskrit Language. Students have also performed in various dance competitions on television such as Dam Dama Dum, Nupur, Full to Dhamal etc.

But the highest of all was a hat trick winning of Prizes for 3 consecutive years at National and International Dance Competitions held in Cuttack, Orissa. In 2014, students of the institution won 5 prizes at National Level Dance Competition organized by FylFot Forum at Solan, Manali.

The students have been performing at Natyanjali Dance Festival at Chidambaram and at various temples like Brihadeshwara, Nataraj Temple, Kumbhakonam, Tirunallar, Nagapattanam, Thirupureshwar and Madurai Temple since 2014.

Adding yet another feather to the hat, 65 students of Nritya Kala Niketan were a part of the ‘Guinness World Record ’ attempt of 5000 bharatnatyam dancers performing together which was held on April 14, 2017 at Vels University, Pallavaram, Chennai.

Again, On 3rd March 2019 at Thillai Natraja Temple, Chidambaram, 77 students of Nritya Kala Niketan performed at the ‘Guinness World Record ’ attempt of 7000 Bharatnatyam Dancers performing together on the same tune.

The institute has also successfully completed 126 Arangetrams.The Institution celebrates International Dance Day every year in the form of its Annual Day. The institution conducts yearly exams from 1st year upto Alankar Masters. It also strives for the completion of Arangetram of various students.

the Institution has been a part of the 3 ‘Guinness World Record’ attempt which was declared to be successful :-

• April 17, 2017: At Vels University, Pallavaram, Chennai - of the 5000 Bharatnatyam Dancers, 65 students of Nritya Kala Niketan.

• March 3, 2019: At Thillai Nataraj Temple, Chidambaram - of the 7000 Bharatnatyam Dancers, 77 students of our Institute.

• February 8, 2020: At S.I.V.E.T. College, Chennai organised by Tamil Nadu State Tourism - of the 10,000 Bharatnatyam Dancers, 60 students of the Institute.
